Michael Katz joined Fruitman Kates in August 2023 as a Senior Manager in the Tax Group. Michael’s expertise has been honed over a 15-year public accounting career; his practice covers all facets of tax services, including personal, corporate, trust and partnership tax compliance, tax controversy involving CRA and Revenue Quebec, estate planning, and tax planning for acquisitions, divestitures, and reorganizations.

Michael’s clients run the gamut of owner-managed businesses, automotive dealerships, ultra-high-net-worth families, small-medium-sized businesses, and real estate owners/operators. His focus on practicality and pragmatism when approaching complex tax concepts, in addition to speaking simply and directly with clients, has allowed Michael to have meaningful impacts on our clients since his arrival.

Prior to joining Fruitman Kates, Michael worked as a Senior Manager at a national accounting firm in Markham and he has been working in the Canadian tax field since 2008. Michael originally hails from Montreal and spends his spare time cheering on his beloved Habs and enjoying quality time with his wife and two daughters.
